Teaching and Learning

Hello Wimba families and students,
I hope that you are all well! This term has been a fantastic start to the year. There have been lots of engaging opportunities to learn and show our growth. At Wimba we want every student to be able to learn, grow and show excellence.
National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN).
A huge congratulations to our wonderful Grade 3 and 5 students who completed NAPLAN recently. Like most schools the first day of NAPLAN was significantly interrupted with technology issues which caused a flow on effect to the rest of the testing schedule. Our students and teachers were able to adapt and continue to focus on doing their best.
NAPLAN results will be out later in the year and we will let families know when these arrive.
At home reading.
Our students have begun their at home reading program. It is important that students practice their reading skills daily. We know that home life can be busy, so its great for you to be able to imcorpate daily reading into your various activities. For older students it may be reading the recipe for dinner and for yonger students it could be reading their readers to you while you are preparing dinner etc.
Learning growth.
Across the different year levels, students have been working hard learning. It has been great seeing learning progression that students are making. We have such a range of progress that students are making in different year levels. Students are learning to write and read in foundation, creating poster reports in grade 4 and completing text responses in grade 5. Students are demonstrating their learning in a range of ways. Please make sure you read each year levels snapshot to see what has been happening in more detail. We are eager to see what next term brings!
We continue to be proud of the positive and purposeful start to the year and look forward to all that lies ahead.
Thank you
Kellie Allen
