Wimba Primary School Newsletter – Principal’s Message

What a term we have had! It feels like only yesterday that our new Foundation students began their journey at Wimba. Throughout this term, we have welcomed 40 new staff members and over 160 new students to our school. To all of you, we extend a very warm welcome to Wimba—we are delighted to have you join our wonderful school community.

It has certainly been a busy and exciting term, filled with a wide range of events and activities. Most importantly, it has been a term rich in learning, growth, and the development of new friendships across all year levels. As we head into the upcoming holidays, I encourage all students, staff, and families to take the opportunity to rest, recharge, and return ready to embrace Term 2 with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

I would also like to warmly congratulate our Year 3 and Year 5 students who recently completed NAPLAN. The effort, focus, and resilience shown throughout the testing period were truly commendable. Thank you to our NAPLAN Coordinator, Phil, as well as our dedicated Year 3 and Year 5 teaching and education support staff, for their careful organisation and support of students throughout the process.

End of Term Finish

School ends at 1:35 on Thursday 2nd March

Harmony Week Celebrations

Our Harmony Week day at Wimba was a fantastic celebration of culture and community. Students participated in a range of engaging activities designed to recognise and embrace the cultural diversity within our school.

It was wonderful to see students sharing their own heritage, learning from one another, and celebrating the many cultures that make Wimba such a vibrant and inclusive place. Harmony Week reminds us that everyone belongs, and our students truly embodied this message. Thank you to all staff, students, and families who contributed to making this such a meaningful event.

Holiday Break

I would like to wish all of our families a safe, restful, and happy holiday break. Happy Easter to those who celebrate.

We look forward to welcoming all students back for another exciting term of learning from Monday 20 April.

Child Safety, Attendance & Community Reminders

Wimba Primary School is committed to continuous improvement in child safety and wellbeing. We welcome feedback from families and the wider community on how we can further strengthen our policies and practices. Please contact the school office or the Principal if you have any suggestions, questions, or concerns.

We also remind families that every day counts. If your child is absent, please notify the school as early as possible via Compass.

Road Safety Reminder

We have recently received reports from our School Crossing Supervisors regarding students riding bicycles across crossings rather than dismounting. This presents significant safety risks for students, pedestrians, supervisors, and drivers.

To ensure the safety of all members of our community, we remind families that students must dismount and walk their bikes across all crossings every time. This reduces the risk of collisions, improves visibility, and ensures a safe and consistent process for everyone.

Please also note that e-bikes and e-scooters are not permitted at school.

Thank you for your ongoing support in keeping our students safe.

We thank all members of the Wimba community for your continued partnership and support throughout this term.

Warm regards,

Paul
