PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Mrs Claire Ryan
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Week 9's newsletter.
As we approach the end of Week 9, I am grateful for the energy, dedication, and resilience shown by our staff, students, and families throughout this busy term. The crisp winter mornings and shorter days have not dampened the warmth and vibrancy that characterise our school community.
This term has been filled with many moments of learning, celebration and prayer. Our students have embraced every opportunity, from classroom learning and sports to liturgies and special celebrations. As a Catholic school, we continue to draw strength from our shared faith. The Feast of the Sacred Heart, which we will celebrate this Friday, serves as a poignant reminder for all of us to live with compassion, kindness, and a heart open to others.
As I explained in the last newsletter, the staff have been working collaboratively to triangulate assessment tasks and moderate student work samples to formulate their accurate judgements for the Semester 1 Reports. These reports will be shared via Compass before the end of this Term.
3-WAY LEARNING CONFERENCES - TERM 3, WEEK 2
We will host 3-way Learning Conferences for all children at Sacred Heart School during Week 2 of Term 3, to celebrate their learning during Semester 1 and to discuss Semester 2 learning goals. These conferences are not just another event but a significant opportunity for you to understand and support your child's learning journey. As the name suggests, they will focus on learning. If parents wish to discuss matters other than learning, a meeting can be booked with your child's class teacher at another time. During these meetings, teachers will discuss content from Semester 1 reports with parents and students; the students will present work samples to their parents and discuss their reflections and next steps in learning. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to show pride in their learning and take accountability for their work. Parents will also participate by asking questions and offering constructive comments. Your understanding and preparation for these conferences is key. Further information and booking schedules will be available via Compass before the end of next week.
NSW EDUCATION STANDARDS AUTHORITY (NESA) PARENT GUIDES
The NESA parent guides (hyperlinked below) will help you deepen your understanding of the language used in the upcoming reports. They have also been shared with you via your Compass portal.
Please take some time to read the parent guides specific to your child/ren before the 3-way Learning Conferences so you are familiar with the language being discussed.
NESA Parent Guides for English
NESA Parent Guides for Mathematics
With only a week to go until the end of term, I encourage everyone to finish strong — supporting one another, working hard and making the most of every opportunity. To our dedicated staff, thank you for your professionalism and care. To our families, thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. To our students, thank you for being respectful, hopeful and hardworking.
I hope that the upcoming school holidays will be a time of rest and renewal for all. May you and your families be kept safe and well, and I look forward to welcoming you back for an exciting and productive Term 3.
Wishing everyone a productive and rewarding Week 9!
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.
Warm regards,
Claire Ryan
