Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families,

While we are getting very close to the end of Term 2, our students are still busy and working hard. The students have enjoyed writing about 'Super Snake' by Gregg Dreise and have been using fantastic adjectives and adverbs in their sentences.

The students further developed their understanding of St Thomas and are eagerly looking forward to celebrating his Feast Day on Thursday 3rd July.  They are also very excited about the upcoming PJ Day on Monday 30th June. We will be fundraising for St Vincent de Paul so if you are able, please bring a gold coin donation.

As we are in the season of Winter there are times when we have Indoor Play during break times. The students should be commended for continuing to follow the school expectations by using kind words, sharing toys and equipment and being safe. It is lovely seeing the students interacting with one another and completing some of their favourite activities.

Next week we are learning about...

Religious Education: We will be celebrating St Thomas' Feast Day through various activities including a Community Liturgy and Drew Lane Music incursion.

Mathematics: we will be undertaking some problem solving activities that will incorporate the topic areas covered this term. We will also undertake a post assessment for Mass and Capacity.

English: we will be building our background knowledge about lizards to support our understanding of our text, Lethal Lizards. We will also be writing a retell of the most important parts of this text. There will be a revision of all the spelling patterns and grammar concepts explicitly taught this term. 

Auslan: students will be revising Auslan signs for numbers and continuing to practise the Auslan alphabet. 

Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: we will be finishing our Problem Solving unit by students having the opportunity to describe possible actions to solve problems. Also, to describe the possible good and bad outcomes of different choices.
