Steps to Raise a Concern About Your Child
1. Start with the Classroom Teacher
- 📞 Contact the teacher (email or phone call).
- 🗣️ Briefly explain your concern and ask to meet or talk.
- 📝 Take notes during your conversation, including what was said and agreed.
- ⏳ Give time for the teacher to act and follow up.
2. If the Issue Continues – Speak to School Leadership
🧑🏫 Request a meeting with a member of the leadership team
eg. Deputy Principal: Teaching and Learning (academic concerns) or
Deputy Principal: Inclusive Education for wellbeing or social/emotional concerns.
- 📂 Bring evidence or examples (dates, issues, what’s been tried).
- 🤝 Discuss support options and ask for a plan to address the issue.
- 📅 Ask for a review date to check on progress.
3. If Still Not Resolved – Escalate to the Principal
- 🧑💼 Write to or request a meeting with the Principal.
- 📄 Clearly outline your concerns, previous steps taken, and why you’re still concerned.
- 📬 Keep all communication professional and documented.
4. Final Step – Lodge a Formal Complaint (if needed)
- 🏛️ Ask for the school’s complaints policy (See the school website).
- ✍️ Submit a formal complaint in writing, referencing previous attempts to resolve the issue.
- 🏢 DOSCEL (Diocese of Sale Catholic Limited) if you’re still not satisfied.
Have a lovely weekend,
