Physical Education
F-2 students in PE have been focused on key movement skills. We've focused on locomotor movements like running, hopping, jumping, and skipping to build agility and coordination. Students have also been developing crucial ball skills, including throwing, catching, and kicking. These skills are essential for their confidence and enjoyment in all physical activities.
Year 3 and 4 students have been incredibly fortunate to receive expert basketball coaching from a professional NBL1 player from the Casey Cavaliers! During these sessions, students have been actively developing fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting. The opportunity to learn directly from a high-level athlete has been an inspiring experience, helping to refine their techniques and foster a deeper understanding of basketball in a fun and engaging environment.
Year 5 and 6 students have recently showcased their developing athletic abilities across a range of team sports. In T-ball, students focused on refining their hitting, fielding, and base-running strategies, demonstrating strong teamwork throughout their games. For Australian Rules Football, the emphasis was on mastering kicking, marking, and handballing skills, alongside understanding positional play and game tactics.
Cranbourne SSV Lightning Premiership!
What an incredible day of interschool sports our students had on Monday! Our teams displayed remarkable talent, sportsmanship, and determination, making our school incredibly proud.
A huge congratulations to our Netball teams who played an absolutely amazing day of netball, battling their way through a tough field of 17 teams to reach the Grand Final! This is a truly fantastic achievement and a testament to their hard work and teamwork.
Our T-ball team also showed excellent skill and teamwork throughout the day, securing a commendable 4th place overall. The AFL 9's team put in a strong performance, winning an impressive 3 out of their 4 games, showcasing their growing prowess on the field. And our Soccer team demonstrated exceptional play, finishing a strong 3rd place after a series of excellent and competitive matches.
These outstanding results are a reflection of the dedication and commitment of our students, and also the unwavering support of our staff. A special thank you must go to all year 6 teachers who generously gave up their lunchtimes to train the students for this big day.
We are incredibly proud of all our students for their efforts and for representing St Thomas with such distinction. Well done everyone!
Also a big congratulations to Allegra Barret one of our year 5 students who qulaified for the State Cross Country Championships. See the community news page for a detailed report from Allegra!
