Semester 1 Reports

Update to Mathematics Student Reporting – Version 2.0
From Semester 1, 2025, St John Vianney’s will begin reporting student achievement in Mathematics using the updated Mathematics Version 2.0 curriculum, recently released by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).
This new version of the curriculum will be implemented in all Victorian schools by 2025. One of the key changes is how student achievement is reported. Previously, Mathematics reports were structured around three strands: Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Under the revised curriculum, these will be replaced with a single overall score that reflects a student’s achievement against the full Mathematics standard.
As this new standard is different from the previous one, the first report under Version 2.0 will not show progress, only achievement. In subsequent reports, progress will once again be tracked and reported against the updated standard.
The VCAA has introduced these changes to provide teachers with greater flexibility in planning and delivering lessons. The aim is to strengthen the connections students make between mathematical concepts and with other areas of the curriculum.
We look forward to continuing to support our students’ learning through this revised approach.
Semester 1 reports will available to parents in the week beginning Monday 23rd June. Please ensure you have read your child's school report prior to the Parent/Teacher Meetings on Tuesday 1st July and Wednesday 2nd July.
