Founders Day 2025 - A Walking Celebration

DCS Founders, Association Members, past staff and students, are invited to join us tomorrow,Thursday 19th June, for our 2025 Founder’s Day Celebration Walk and Morning Tea, a special journey through our school’s present day. As we stroll through the grounds, we will pause at various locations to enjoy presentations by current students, before gathering in the Jiloa Centre for morning tea, reflection, and celebration.

At DCS we deeply value our heritage and honouring the Founders who embraced the vision of bringing Christian education to Devonport. We are grateful to many who continue to pray for our school and those who are able to financially sow into the school with tax deductible donations to our building fund. We are especially excited to share updates on our future new Year 9/10 Centre building project which is well underway. The near future, in 2026, DCS will be educating Kinder through to Year 10 students and have projected over 460 students.

We will gather at the Jiloa Centre at 9:15am tomorrow. A delicious hot beverage will be available before we commence our ‘DCS Celebration Walk’ at 9:30am.

Premier's Reading Challenge

This year our students again have the opportunity to participate in the Tasmanian Premier’s Reading Challenge.

The Tasmanian Premier's Reading Challenge is open to all students from Kinder to Year 9 and began on Monday 16th June and ends on Sunday 24th August.

How many books will you read in 10 weeks? Set your personal reading goal for the Challenge, grab some books, start reading and see how you go!

You are free to choose books you want to read for the Challenge. You can read books in a variety of formats including print, digital, audiobooks and graphic novels. For younger children, a book that is read to them counts toward their total.  Larger chapter books can be counted as more than one book.

Students will need to complete a log book as part of the challenge, and all students who return a completed log book to the school office will receive a signed certificate from the Premier of Tasmania.

Log books will be sent home with students prior to the commencement of the challenge, and extras are available from the school office,  or they can be downloaded by clicking on the following links:

Primary Log Book

Secondary Log Book

All completed log books are due to the school office by Friday 29th August.

This year, ICAS have also launched the ICAS Student Scholarship Program — a new initiative that provides students with the financial support to participate in ICAS.

By removing financial barriers, this program aims to make ICAS accessible to more children than ever before.
