Semester One Reports – Available Monday 30th June
Semester One student reports have been finalised and will be released to families on Monday. These reports provide an overview of your child’s learning progress and achievement during the first half of the year, aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0. They reflect your child’s development across key learning areas as well as their personal and social capabilities. We encourage families to take the time to read the report together, celebrate progress, and discuss next steps in learning. This is a great opportunity to reflect on growth and set new goals for Semester Two. If you have any questions after reading the report, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.

NAPLAN 2025 – Individual Student Reports for Years 3 and 5
We would like to inform families that the NAPLAN 2025 Individual Student Reports for Years 3 and 5 are scheduled to be delivered to schools in August 2025. These reports provide detailed insights into your child's performance in literacy and numeracy, assessed during the NAPLAN tests conducted in March. Each report outlines your child's achievements across the four assessment areas: Reading, Writing, Conventions of Language, and Numeracy. Performance is indicated using the updated proficiency standards, which categorise results into four levels: Exceeding, Strong, Developing, and Needs Additional Support. These reports are a valuable tool for understanding your child's learning progress and identifying areas where they may benefit from additional support or extension. If you have any questions or require further assistance upon receiving your child's report, please don't hesitate to contact the school.

NAIDOC Week – Celebrating First Nations Voices in Term 3
While NAIDOC Week takes place during the school holiday period this year, Wimba will be honouring and celebrating the rich cultures, histories, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in Term 3 through dedicated teaching and learning. Our focus this year will be on Indigenous literature, with each year level exploring texts that highlight First Nations voices and perspectives. These learning experiences will be thoughtfully planned around the Big 6 components of reading, oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension - to support both literacy development and cultural understanding. We look forward to sharing student learning and celebrations with our community as we continue to build cultural knowledge and respect across our school.

Exciting News: Ochre Intervention Program Supporting Our F–2 Students in Term 3
We’re pleased to share that Wimba has been accepted into the Ochre Intervention Program for Term 3! This targeted initiative focuses on supporting Foundation to Year 2 students who would benefit from additional help in mathematics. The program is designed to strengthen early number understanding, build confidence, and support positive learning habits in a warm and supportive environment. We’re delighted to welcome Priya Katwe, an experienced intervention specialist, who will be leading the program. Priya will work closely with identified students in small groups, using evidence-based strategies to address individual learning needs. Families of participating students will be contacted directly, and we look forward to working in partnership to support student growth. We know that when schools and families work together, amazing things happen.

Outstanding Feedback from Tracey Ezard’s 'The Buzz' School Report
We are thrilled to share some exciting news with our school community! As part of our ongoing commitment to building a strong culture of collaboration and professional growth, our staff recently participated in Tracey Ezard’s The Buzz Diagnostic, a national tool designed to measure the health of school learning cultures. We are incredibly proud to report that Wimba achieved outstanding results, particularly in the area of Teaching and Learning. The feedback reflects a highly connected and committed teaching team, united in their pursuit of excellence and equity for every learner. These results affirm that our staff feel empowered, supported, and deeply engaged in their work - working together to ensure evidence-based practices are embedded across the school. I would like to thank our staff for their ongoing dedication and our families for their continued support. We believe that a strong professional culture leads to better outcomes for students and your partnership plays a vital role in this success.

Wimba Wellbeing Day – A Celebration of Care, Connection and Community
On our recent Curriculum Day, Wimba Primary School hosted its first-ever Wimba Wellbeing Day - a day set aside to recognise and care for our dedicated staff, who are tirelessly working behind the scenes on all things for our students. With a focus on gratitude, self-care, and caring for others, the day was filled with opportunities for rest, connection, and rejuvenation. From movement and mindfulness sessions and creative moments, the experience reminded us of the importance of looking after ourselves so we can continue to give our best to our students. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the local businesses who generously supported the day and generously offer our Wimba families a special rate:

With gratitude,
Belinda Williams, Sarah Lochhead and Marnie McColl.
