Instructional Coaching

This week I have had the privilege of working in many of the classes to assist with some mathematics lessons. It was exciting to see how engaged all the students have been in the learning and to have them explain their thinking while completing tasks. This helps them to strengthen their understanding and apply the concepts they are learning into real life situations. I encourage you to constantly discuss what your children are learning with them and give them some real opportunities to apply their knowledge.

Today I attended the Prep A mathematics lesson as well as a printing lesson in Visual Art with 3/4 A. Again, the students were so engaged and invested in the activities in both classes. Mrs Veteha was looking at comparing numbers to 20 in her class. The students were counting collections and then comparing which had more or less. In 3/4 A students were creating designs before making a template to do printing. Their designs and attention to detail are fantastic. Well done to Mrs Veteha and  Ms Sarah for their explicit modelling of the tasks as well as the students who were taking so much pride in their finished work.

NAIDOC Week Competitions.

Any students who are wishing to enter the competitions for NAIDOC week will need to return their entry by next Friday 20th June. This allows time for them to be collated and posted to Sydney for judging.

There are two different categories for Primary students. They are:

       Prep – Year 2: Colouring-In Competition

       Years 3 – 6: Poetry Writing Competition

Write a poem entitled “Respect” that explores what this important value means to you and your community.

Have a wonderful weekend.
