The Government is replacing the Resource Management Act with new legislation aimed at reducing red tape while protecting the environment. Minister Chris Bishop and Under-Secretary Simon Court say the reforms will make it easier to build infrastructure, use natural resources, and boost economic growth. The changes, based on property rights, are expected to cut administrative and compliance costs by 45%. The new system builds on expert recommendations and replaces previous reforms deemed ineffective.
