SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Wednesday March 26th is World Maths Day 2025.

This years theme is ‘Maths For Everyone’

This a great day to celebrate all things Maths with your children, promoting positive feelings and a growth mindset towards Mathematics Learning.

How can you promote Maths and have some fun at

home on World Maths Day?

Mathletics - is hosting a World Maths Day event where children can earn points to be displayed on the World Maths Day Platform. Playing live Mathletics is the way to earn points.

Boardgames: Boardgames like Snakes and Ladders, Yahtzee, Monopoly, Scrabble (adding the scores including double / triple points), card games like Snap and 31 are also great to promote mathematical thinking in a fun way.

Cooking: Cooking is always a great way for kids to develop their knowledge of fractions. Discuss how to make one cup if you only have half cups or ¾ and ¼ cups. You could set a challenge to not use the 1 cup measure to make amounts or to double / halve the recipe you are using.

Mapping: Print a map of the local area and go on a treasure hunt to find important locations near you. This could include parks, supermarkets, friends houses and more!

As parents and care givers, your attitude towards maths has a significant impact on how your children view maths. A positive approach and having fun is the key to building Mathematicians that are positive about learning maths.
