SCHOOL COUNCIL

School Council Update

On Monday 17th March, we held our Annual General Meeting and our first School Council with the 2025 appointed council members. At this meeting, we said farewell to outgoing member Domnhall McInerney and sincerely thanked him for his time and contribution to the School Council and the Facilities, Buildings and Grounds sub-committee. We welcomed back current members and voted in new members for 2025.

We thank the following members for their time and contribution to the 2025 School Council:

- Staff Representatives: Meg Bone, Sarah Jeffreys, Jacquie Clancy, Louisa Blamires and Emily Angliss.

- Parent Representatives: David Meade (President), Emma Purdue (Vice President), Kirsten Bromley, Chris Botha, Alicia Bennett, Belinda Perisic, Nazmus Sakib, Bridie King and Evan Williams.

Special welcome to Emily Angliss, Belinda Perisic and Zazmus Sakib who are joining the School Council for the first time this year.

Discussions and decisions from the School Council Meeting:

- Financial recommendations approved and endorsed, with special noting of approvals for the School Fair.

- Facilities, Buildings and Grounds

  • Approval and agreement to relocate the donated 125th anniversary bricks to front of the school with a special idea discussed for the 150 year celebrations in the years to come to further respect our school history.
  • Sensory Garden Update (Front of the School): Project coming along well with expected completion date of 17th April (in time for Term 2!)
  • Completion of the Ramp Works led by the Victorian School Building Authority
  • Storm Damage works - Library awaiting completion and reopening
  • External Hirer of Facilities approved and reviewed hire pricing for 2025 and beyond.

- Correspondence discussed from a concerned parent and resident re: traffic, speed and safety in school roads, especially Fairview Avenue. Meg, on behalf of School Council, will write a letter of support to the City of Greater Geelong for consideration and review of these roads. We are grateful to the COGG for their work with the Pakington St Improvements. This is a great reminder to everyone in our community to consider road safety when driving, crossing roads and parking, especially at drop off and pick up times. Emily will research Education Sessions from Vicroads or other organisations to enhance the Road Safety message.

The next School Council Meeting will be held on Monday 19th May, 2025.
