The New South Wales Premier’s Reading Challenge Has now started and runs until August 2025. This challenge is for Years 3 to 6. We encourage all students to take on the Premier’s Reading Challenge and use the school library, home libraries, Sora to discover new and exciting books that count towards their reading goals. This is a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves, explore different genres, and develop a lifelong love of reading!
The teachers in our infant grades read 30 titles to their respective classes. When these students reach the primary grades they will be able to read the books independently. No passwords are required for our younger children although the books read will be logged into their own personal PRC account. This enables students who continue the challenge in the primary grades to receive recognition for their constant effort.
Students in the primary years have 6 months to read 20 titles. New passwords will be handed to the students who wish to participate in this year’s challenge.
Although this is non-compulsory, we do encourage students to sign up and take part.
At the completion of the challenge, all students will receive a Participation Certificate. The students that have completed 4 and 7 consecutive challenges will receive a Gold or Platinum Certificate of Participation.
If your child wishes to participate in this challenge and is in Years 3 to 6, please ask them to pop into the library for a permission slip.
Discover the Sora Online Library – A Fantastic Reading Resource!
Reading is a crucial skill that supports learning across all subjects, and regular reading helps develop comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills. Parents play a key role in fostering a love of reading by encouraging their child to read daily, discussing books together, and providing a variety of reading materials. By making reading a shared and enjoyable experience, parents can help build their child’s confidence and lifelong appreciation for books.
SORA- online library
We are excited to remind students and families about Sora, our school’s online library! Sora provides access to a wide range of eBooks and audiobooks, making it easier than ever for students to find and enjoy great books anytime, anywhere.
Sora is a fantastic resource for students participating in the Premier’s Reading Challenge, as many of the listed books are available in the digital collection. We encourage all students to explore Sora and develop a love for reading by accessing books that interest them.
How to Access Sora:

Encouraging daily reading helps improve literacy skills and fosters a lifelong love of books. We hope students make the most of this fantastic resource!
Our library timetable is up and running and our children have started borrowing.
Listed below are the days of the week for each grade. Please note they may differ from last year.
Kindergarten - Tuesday
Year 1 - Thursday
Year 2 - Wednesday
Year 3 - Wednesday
Year 4 - Monday
Year 5 - Tuesday
Year 6 - Monday
Our infant children may borrow 2 picture books per week and we ask that you enjoy looking through the text and asking your child to guess what the book is about before reading the book to them. The children understand that they can read the same book over and over again just like watching their favourite movie.
Some of our students are up to easy fiction chapter books and are directed to that section of our collection when borrowing.
Our primary students may borrow chapter/lexile books which they need to continue reading for longer than one week. Please ask your child to bring their current book/books on their library day and the loan period will be extended.
Happy reading everybody! 📚✨
