Hello Gympie East parents, carers and community,
As we continue our journey in implementing Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum, I am thrilled to celebrate the dedication and achievements of our teachers and students across Prep to Year 6 in English and Mathematics.
In English, our teachers have embraced the refined curriculum, placing a strong emphasis on writing skills and phonics. Prep students are building strong foundational literacy skills through synthetic systematic approach to reading and engaging in Promoting Literacy Development, while upper-year levels are developing these skills at a deeper level and crafting rich, engaging texts and discussions. It has been inspiring to see students confidently apply their learning in meaningful ways, demonstrating critical and creative thinking across all year levels.
In Mathematics, our focus on statistical investigations focusing on problem solving and reasoning is shining through in every classroom. Hands-on learning experiences and real-world applications are helping students grasp key mathematical concepts with confidence. From collecting, sorting and comparing data in Prep to using integers and common fractions in Year 6, students are engaging with mathematical ideas in a way that is both rigorous and rewarding.
A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers for their commitment to high-quality teaching and learning. Your expertise and passion are shaping student success every day!
