Djaaliny: New Metrics for Learning: Getting from System 1 to System 2
Date: Wednesday 9 April
Time: 6.00pm–7.30pm
Venue: All Saints’ College Centre for Performing Arts
Our first Djaaliny event for 2025, “New Metrics for Learning: Getting from System 1 to System 2” features Enterprise Professor Sandra Milligan from the University of Melbourne’s Melbourne Metrics program. Proudly partnered with All Saints’ College, this event will explore innovative approaches to rethinking assessment for the 21st century.
As highlighted in an article in Melbourne’s The Age, the traditional 20th-century model of schooling—with its age-based year levels, standardised testing, and rigid timetables—is becoming outdated. System 1 represents this old grammar of schooling, while System 2 emphasises learner agency as a cornerstone of modern education. Discover how the New Metrics for Success project aims to transform education and better prepare our children for the future.
Tickets are complimentary through the Djaaliny Community event program, sponsored by the Foundation. RSVPs are essential.
Vacation Swimming Program
We will be running a Vacation Swimming Program from Monday 14 April to Thursday 17 April. The holiday program is ideal for swimmers to stay fit and motivated over the holidays.
The holidays are a great time for your child to jumpstart their skills for the upcoming term. This program targets certain skills that need more focus, time and practice, for example, butterfly and breaststroke corrections, diving and tumble turns. This is an opportunity to consolidate all swimming skills.
- Each lesson is 40 minutes in duration and is a wonderful way to improve children’s safety, confidence, and enjoyment in the water.
- Lessons are at the same time each day for 4 days. The cost for ASC students is $119.15.
- We take swimmers from 4 to 13 years.
- The lesson times are from 8.00am, 8.45am, 9.30am, 10.15am and 11.00am.
Lessons are focused on skills needed to progress to the next level in a fun environment. Our teachers are highly experienced and carefully selected to work with children during Vac Swim.
Please send enquiries to Mrs Ulrike Kesners, Learn to Swim Coordinator.
