At All Saints’ College, we believe that great learning starts with great questions. As part of our commitment to building agency in learning through the New Metrics for Success program, we encourage students to take an active role in their education by developing curiosity, critical thinking, and the confidence to ask thoughtful questions.
Questioning is a powerful tool for learning—it deepens understanding, sparks creativity, and helps students make meaningful connections across different subjects. In the classroom, teachers are fostering a culture of inquiry by encouraging students to explore ideas, challenge assumptions, and engage in rich discussions.
Parents can support this at home by creating opportunities for open-ended conversations. Asking “What do you think?” or “What would happen if…?” can help students develop their reasoning skills and become more independent thinkers. By nurturing a questioning mindset, we empower students to take ownership of their learning and approach challenges with curiosity and confidence.
We look forward to seeing our students continue to grow as thoughtful and inquisitive learners throughout the year.
How can we move beyond the traditional structures of schooling to create a more future-focused approach to education? Join us for New Metrics For Learning: Getting from System 1 to System 2, where Enterprise Professor Sandra Milligan (University of Melbourne, Melbourne Metrics) will explore how the New Metrics for Success project is transforming assessment for the 21st century.
System 1 represents the outdated, standardised model of schooling. System 2 reimagines learning with greater learner agency, real-world skills and personalised growth. Be part of this conversation on the future of education.
