Today was the day that I had been looking forward to for AGES! I could hardly contain my ongoing excitement so I charged through my front door at 7:30am, ready for this adventure. In fact, when I gazed into the polished mirror, it was clear how excited I was when my face lit up with glee. -Silvia
We first viewed the gorillas, which was pretty interesting. They seemed like they were frozen, but then all of a sudden they ran towards their food and ate the lettuce.
- Hayden
We enjoyed the time we had when we were free roaming. I felt joy and saw an opportunity when we saw other kids splashing around and playing in a water spray area created from stoned hippos squirting with rambunctiousness. Many kids decided to drop their bags and ran to the stoned hippos to splash around with glee.
We were elated that we had gotten wet, although it was short lived when we had to go and explore more of the zoo. The safari bus ride was next! The safari bus had a number of majestic series of unexpected events. This consisted of fiercely driving through a lake full of hippos and witnessing brilliant creatures in their natural habitat.

My legs hurt from walking around the zoo and I was happy to finally sit for a while. On the walk to the classroom, my brain was getting ready to start learning. In the room, the educators showed us some skulls. The skulls were cracked, yellow and covered in cobwebs. They sent shivers down my spine. We had to guess the animal by looking at its adaptations. I gave a very important saying which obviously helped a lot.
The saying was, “Eyes on the side like to hide and eyes on the front like to hunt.” Next we looked at African Wild Dogs and their behaviours and adaptations.
-Sathvik
I learned a lot about African Wild Dogs. The zookeeper taught us that when they are in the wild and want to hide, they will roll around in hippo poo to camouflage within the grass.

I loved the fact that hippos are water animals and land animals, too. When they surface and go back down while in the water, it is satisfying. I love everything about them, including their features such as strong jaws and big teeth, and their habitat.
-Vincent
We went to the lion enclosure and we all sat in a rusty old jeep. We surveyed the lion's ecosystem, when suddenly the 500-pound beast prowled towards our jeep. Before we knew it, the Lion leaped onto the jeep and gave us the coldest stare I've ever seen. Looking deep into our eyes!

The moment the Year 6’s and I had to leave, I was so sad. As I waved goodbye to the animals one last time I thought to myself this was the best trip ever!
