3/4 Learning News

What's happening in Year 3/4 space?

Hello, Grade 3/4 families!

It has been a busy and productive time in our Year 3/4 class! Here’s a quick update on what we’ve been up to lately:

NAPLAN Testing

Our Year 3 students have been working hard completing their NAPLAN tests. They have shown great perseverance and focus throughout the testing period. We are so proud of their efforts and resilience!

Persuasive Writing

In English, we’ve been diving into persuasive writing. The students have been learning how to structure their writing effectively, focusing on writing strong topic sentences and supporting details to back up their arguments. They’ve been exploring a variety of persuasive texts and working on their own pieces, applying the skills they’ve been practicing.

Numeracy

In Maths, we have just wrapped up our time unit. The students have been busy calculating start and finishing times for events and determining the duration of elapsed times. We’ve had some fantastic discussions around how to calculate time in real-life situations, and the students have demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills. It’s been great to see them applying their learning to everyday scenarios!

Civics and Citizenship

We were fortunate to have Annabelle Cleeland and Claire Ewart (Mayor of Strathbogie) visit our class to talk about the importance of voting and participating in local government. The students engaged in a mock vote and participated in a simulated council meeting, where they discussed ideas and voted on important issues. They were insightful and engaging experiences, and the students gained a deeper understanding of the democratic process.

We are so proud of the hard work and enthusiasm that the students continue to show in all areas of their learning. Keep up the great work, Year 3/4!
