Updates from Miss Maree

Dear Families,

Thank you to everyone for your time and participation in the recent Learning Conversations and PSG's involving your child's learning and start to the school year -it's hard to believe Term One is nearly over!

The past two weeks our students in Years 3 and 5 have been completing Naplan tests in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy. Congratulations to all for your efforts with this.  As I walk around the classrooms it is wonderful to see the learning that is taking place.

Our last week of the term includes our Swimming Program held at Seymour Aquatic Centre which runs for 5 days. All students will leave school by bus at 11.20 and return at 2pm. Please check Dojo this coming week for individual classes requirements (eg. F/1/2 students may be asked to bring their lunchbox with them to swimming). Permission note will be on PAM app in the next few days.

As Easter occurs this year in the middle of the three weeks holidays it is slightly more challenging to celebrate as a school. The following will take place in the last week of term:

-School liturgy  on Thursday 3rd April at 2.10pm. All welcome.

-Easter Egg raffle drawn after the liturgy. Tickets for the raffle will go home this week. A donation of something 'Easter' is encouraged by each family - eg. chocolate, book, toy, craft activity to be used as prizes.

-Easter Egg Hunt for the school and students from GRPSA and Foundation students from Nagambie Primary School. Younger siblings and students from Mackillop ELC are also very welcome. This will occur from 9.30 -10.30am

-School finishes at 2pm on the last day of term.

As part of Lent and learning about all the work Caritas does to raise money for poorer countries the students and staff have decided to have a 'Strut Your Socks/Shoes' for a good cause. This Friday student can wear their craziest socks or shoes to school for a gold coin donation. Discussions will take place with each class about how we can sometimes take for granted the privilege of having shoes and socks and that there are many children in the world who do not have this luxury.

Uniting Care are offering three days of care on 22nd-24th April (third week of school holidays) while staff attend Professional Learning. Please ask Rose or Sam if you require more information or check your email that was sent out last week.

Congratulations to everyone involved in Little Athletics for another fabulous season and to all the amazing children who give their best each week, developing new skills, building resilience and making friends. Special mention to our St Joseph's students who received awards at the presentation event: Teddy, Mila, Max, Grace, Finley, Scout, Ruby, Hunter, Sebastian and Morgan.

Finally a big shout out to the following parents who supported our fundraiser at yesterday's Rowing Regatta - Ryan S, Ryan L, Lavinia, Clare, Kat, Brett, Lou, Gen, and new Foundation parents Katie, Bec, Alicia and Stevie.  Giving up 2 hours of their time to check tickets as people entered the gate earned $1000  - that's easy money for our school and your children.

It's so easy to get involved in our P and F as there is always something happening. Don't hesitate to ask myself or our amazing president Lou Roberts how you can help (or if you have any suggestions). Many hands make light work!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Stay safe and take care,

Maree :)
