Museums in Motion
We are coming towards our end of our topic with Museums in Motion. Students have learnt about many influential groups and figures that have shaped Australia's History.
Groups students have researched are:
Free Settlers, Convicts, Squatters and indentured labourers.
Key individual figures are: Mary Bryant, Maria Lock, John Batman, Peter Lalor and David Unaipon
Students have learnt about how people lived in settlement time, the harsh realities and how people survived. Through their own perspectives, they wrote a journal entry about living in this time.
Last day of term Friday 4th April, students will showcasing their projects from this term.
Expo will run from 9:10-10am that morning, we hope to see as many visitors as possible!
We are half way through War Horse, our main character 'Joey' the horse is currently captured by the Germans and working as a ambulance horse with his trusted friend 'Topthorne'.
We have met many characters so far and learnt about the rigorous times in WWI.
Currently, students have explored new vocab, such as, eerie, hazardous, lavish, and content. During writing, we have been using subordinate conjunctions to create complex sentences to enhance our texts. We will be implementing these new and relearnt strategies for our up and coming writing day on this Friday.
This Friday we will be holding our writing day. Students will write a narrative that is based on their fictional main character, which had to be an animal. This based on our class novel 'War Horse'.
Students can come in 'dress up' aka casual clothes for the day but it must be linked to something in their narrative. E.g a scarf, if their character wears a scarf they can too, with causal clothes. Students do not have to dress up.
We are up to our third concept in numeracy for the year.
Students are learning about:
EQUIVALENCE: Any number, measure, numerical expression, algebraic expression, or equation can be represented in an infinite number of ways that have the same value.
Students are understanding the importance of know our factors and multiples to help us solve multiplication and division equations and will guide us through equivalent fractions and converting denominators.
