Foundation Class

Creating a love of learning with Mrs McBride & Miss Jenny

Reminders

  •  Library Day is every Friday

  • Students brought home information about the School Nurse Program. The online questionnaire needs to be completed for your child to benefit from this program.

  • Colour Fun Run is next Friday (last Day of Term 1) at 1:15pm. Please send a white top for the students to get changed into on the day. Also, you might like to bring a towel for them to sit on in the car at pick up time; we do like to get messy!

Literacy

Miss Jenny has been working with a small group of students each day, playing a range of games and completing fun tasks while helping them to learn the sounds of the letters s/a/t/p/i/n/m/d/g/k/c/o

We are having a great time practising our writing and reading using the letters we have learnt so far.

Numeracy

One of our favourite games to play in Maths helps us accurately count collections up to 6. We roll the dice, read the number, then make a collection to match the number. We put our hands on our heads so that our teachers can check our work. Then roll again to start all over!

Once we mastered that game, it was time to level up!

The new level meant we had to roll the dice, make the collection, and then represent the number on a tens frame and write the numeral. Some students even made tally marks to show 'how many' and wrote the number in word format!

For Integrated Studies this week our learning focused on emotions and being a good friend. We played a fun game of emotion statues where we got to show each other what our faces and bodies look like and feel like when we experience different emotions. We also discussed what happens to trigger these emotions in people.

Learning about being a good friend had everyone laughing as we made our 'listening ears'. As you can see, we do look pretty funny! All jokes aside, we learnt that being a good friend means that we listen to each other and think about what the other person is saying.

Harmony Day

On Friday, March 21st, we celebrated Harmony Day. It was such a fun day that Mrs McBride only managed to take two photos! Thank you to all our grown-ups for finding orange things for us to wear. Harmony Day celebrates the differences in ALL people and reminds us that EVERYONE BELONGS!

Our First School Sports Day (Athletics Carnival)

We were so lucky to have a beautiful, sunny day for our first school sports day! Thank you to all our grown ups who called in or even stayed for the whole day to support us and even help out with some of our events! Extremely proud of each and every Prep student who ran their best races all by themselves! Even though we had our Grade 6 buddies waiting to help us, we did it on our own! Thank you to the high school kids for helping out, thank you to Ms O'Reilly, for all her hard work organising the day. Thank you to Miss Kennedy and Mrs Patterson, for doing all the counting and maths to keep score.

Congratulations, BLUE HOUSE!

We loved the Egg and spoon race! Shot put and Vortex were great fun too!
