Attendance Matters

Dear Parents, Carers & Students,

The Attendance Team is excited to share the second edition of Attendance Matters for 2025, with a focus on the importance of students arriving at school on time and being fully prepared for class. The College recognises the crucial role that families play in this process and understands the positive correlation between punctuality, academic outcomes, and future pathway opportunities.

We are committed to working in partnership with you and aim to keep you consistently informed. Through regular communication via phone calls, emails, and meetings, and by sharing data sets with families, we will keep you updated on attendance matters. However, it’s important to note that ensuring students arrive on time remains a shared responsibility, with parent/carers playing a key role in supporting their student’s punctuality. If you require more detailed information about your student’s attendance, please refer to the Compass digest or reach out to your student’s Home Group Teacher.

If your student has a valid reason for arriving late to school, kindly email elisabeth.murdoch.co@education.vic.gov.au with their name, home group, and the reason for ongoing lateness. A follow-up call will be made to your home to ensure we are supporting your student effectively.

To help prevent lateness in the morning, we encourage students to establish a morning routine that allows them to arrive at school by 8:30 AM, ready for an 8:45 AM start. Given the high volume of traffic on Warrandyte Road, we also recommend that students who are driven be dropped off at alternate points along Warrandyte Road, such as North Road, and walk part of the way. This will help reduce congestion and ease the flow of traffic at our busy drop-off zone.

We value our partnership with families in ensuring students' success. Together, we can help students develop the habits and skills necessary for this to occur.
