Teaching and Learning in Foundation

At LPPS, it is great to see our Foundation students on their journey to learning to read and write. We use a program called Little Learners Love Literacy to support our students to build knowledge of letters and the sounds that they make. This is called phonics.

Early phonics knowledge is the key to starting to decode written words. Children can use phonics knowledge to “sound out” words. Phonics is essential for children to become successful readers and spellers/writers in the early years of schooling and beyond.

Having good hand strength enables students to write efficiently. At LPPS we are currently building our fine motor skills such as following lines and using our scissors to cut following a zig zag line.

Here are some of our recent activities.
