Principal Team's Message
Nurture. Innovate. Celebrate.
Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,
WOW Work - Students
Each term, every classroom teacher is asked to select a piece of WOW Work from their class which goes on display in the main corridor near the office.
WOW Work represents the highest level of effort, where a student applies their personal best to produce work of good quality.
During our final assembly of the Term the fourteen students who have been selected for the WOW Work board will go into a raffle to win a prize.
Please come through the main building to see this wonderful work.
Our students created WOW work because they have WOW teachers!
WOW Work - Staff
On the note of growth and excellence, it is worth mentioning the adult learning at Maramba Primary School. Staff work in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) that focus on improving teacher practice, which in turn improves student outcomes. It was an exciting week in PLCs as we celebrated our students' growth in the Mathematics curriculum and a range of formative assessments.
Our improvement cycle began early this term in the evaluate and diagnose stage, where staff in different year levels placed our students on the data wall based on teacher judgment scores from Semester 2, 2024.
From here, we moved into the prioritise and set goals stage, where each year level team set a goal to improve their practice through a range of formative assessment strategies.
We then moved on to develop and plan, where we read "Formative Assessment - Professional Practice Principles" and an article on examples of formative assessments.
Our staff have implemented new formative assessment strategies, including think boards, conference notes, brain dumps, and work samples. Our formative assessment has shown that our students are demonstrating growth in their understandings of different mathematical concepts. As a school we are committed to ensuring all our students make at least a year’s growth for a year of learning.
Some highlights from our formative assessment collection included:
Overall, teachers have focused on explicitly defining new vocabulary and modelling using concrete materials, fish bowls, and think-aloud techniques. Other positive feedback from all teams included the use of the spiraled curriculum and mental maths books.
NAPLAN
We are pleased to inform you that students in Year 3 and Year 5 have recently completed the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). This annual assessment is an important part of our education system, providing valuable insights into your child's academic progress in key areas: reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar, and punctuation), and numeracy.
The results of NAPLAN help us understand where each student is excelling and where additional support may be needed. These insights also assist teachers in tailoring their instruction to meet the individual needs of every student, ensuring they receive the support required to succeed.
Congratulations to all students in Year 3 and Year 5 for trying their very best with every NAPLAN assessment!
Demonstrating our School Values in all our Actions
As a school, we are guided by our values of Respect, Responsiblity, Resilience and positive Relationships — and there are several situations that prompt us to reflect on how we demonstrate these values inside and beyond the school gates.
Being part of a community means considering the needs and rights of others, and we kindly ask that you reflect on how your actions impact others. We understand that drop off and pick up times are busy and can be challenging to navigate. We kindly ask that parents/carers refrain from parking in the staff car park (this includes both carparks on Maramba Drive). These carparks are reserved for school staff and their vehicles. By respecting this, you are ensuring that the students are safe from moving vehicles and that there are enough spaces available for staff members who need to be on campus during school hours.
Our school day runs from 8:45 AM to 3:15 PM, with supervision of the grounds starting ten minutes before and after these times. We have a significant number of students who arrive well before 8:30 AM. We ask that parents adhere to the school's timing guidelines. If, for any reason, your child needs to be dropped off early, please make arrangements with the Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) provider, Theircare.
Finally, with the school holiday period approaching, it is important we work together to look after our beautiful grounds and facilities. By working collaboratively, we can ensure our school community is one that we are all proud of — inside and outside of the school grounds. Thank you for your ongoing support and for helping uphold the values that strengthen our community.
Cross Country 2025!
What an incredible day we had at the 2025 Cross Country event at Maramba Primary School! We were delighted by the fantastic turnout from our parent community—thank you to everyone who volunteered and came to support their child(ren). Our students showed great team spirit, cheering each other on and proudly representing their houses with colourful outfits.
A huge thank you to Mr. Paul Wilson and all the staff who helped organise the event. A huge thank you to our wonderful student leaders too who were just brilliant role models and so very helpful throughout the event. Thank you to Elise, our School Chaplain, who cut boxes of oranges to provide a refreshing treat at the end of each race. We were truly impressed by the resilience and determination displayed by every student as they gave their best effort in the race. Well done, Maramba!
