TERM 1

It is hard to believe that just ten weeks ago we were welcoming our new Foundation students and now we are wrapping up Term 1 and heading into a term break.  Where did that time go? Just a reminder that we finish at 2:30pm tomorrow, with our end of term assembly starting at 2:10pm.  We want to wish your family a wonderful break and a Happy Easter.  Term 2 commences on Tuesday 22 April.  This is a short week with Easter Monday and ANZAC Day on the Friday as public holidays, making this a short first week back for Term 2.

Student-led Walkthrough

Last Tuesday's Student-led Walkthroughs, were a wonderful celebration of learning across the school. Our students led their parents of a walk of their classrooms and shared with them the work they had completed in Term 1.  In the library we showcased mathematics and how teachers differentiate maths tasks to support and extend students. These supports and extensions could be as simple as altering the numbers on the numberline, altering the place value range, swapping in dice with higher or lower numbers.  These simple strategies to ensure students are being challenged and supported to achieve their full potential in mathematics.  We hope you enjoyed the evening and thank you all for coming along.

The photos below capture some of that excitement:

Shop for your School

There is just five more days of the Shop for your School competition and only one Double Points Thursday left!  Make sure you get down to Eastland and shop between 5-9pm this evening to earn the double points.  Mullum Primary School has been top of the Leaderboard for most of this competition and we would love it to stay that way until the end.  If you haven't yet set up an account there is still an opportunity.  After shopping at one of the designated stores, go to the link below and register, then upload your receipt.

Good luck, Mullum!

Uniform Reminder

As we head into cooler weather, and in case you are purchasing uniform over the holidays, here are a couple of reminders about uniform expectations, thank you for your ongoing support of this:

  • Black tracksuit pants (or black shorts if your child prefers) are the winter uniform for all students, together with their polo shirt and jumper
  • Black or white runners, or shoes, are the expected footwear
  • leggings under summer dresses, skivvies showing under polo shirts instead of a jumper, jeans and coloured shoes are not part of the winter school uniform.

Friends of the Garden (F.R.O.Gs) - Launch

We are excited to let you know that there is a growing group of families that are interested in gardening and are keen to maintain and develop our vegetable gardens.  To launch this new initiative there will be a gathering of interested people, younger siblings, even grandparents, on Friday 2 May at 2:15pm up in the garden behind the Learning Centre. Join us for a cuppa and a chance to hear about the plans.  There will be plenty of time to head over to assembly after.  All welcome.

Old playground at the back of the Learning Centre

We have noticed an increased use of the grassed area at the back of the Learning Centre at pick up times in the afternoon.  Today we have baracaded the old playground equipment to prevent children from playing on any of it as it is not safe and has no soft fall to protect children should they fall off.  This equipment was part of an old playground which is no longer used for play purposes.  Please support your children to move away and play elsewhere.

Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits - Ticket Sales

Tickets on sale for the whole school production on Tuesday 22 April.  Booking forms will go home on this day in hard copy and on Compass.  If you come in to the office to purchase tickets, you are able to select your seats.

Google Reviews

Throughout Term 1 we have been very busy touring prospective families looking at our school for their pre-school child for 2026.  Recently I was so surprised to hear that families judge the local schools by their Google Reviews, just like they decide which restaurant to go to based on the reviews.  This caused me to look at our rating - 3.7 from 15 Google Reviews.  A low rating from only a few reviews.  If families are choosing schools based on reviews and star ratings, I wonder if we can get some more traffic on our Reviews, with our current families sharing views of the school?  So... if you are a person who likes to review sites, then Google our school, write us a review, rating your experience and we will respond.

Foundation 2026 Tours

School tours are in full swing with promotional material at all of the local kindergartens and childcare centres.  Applications for 2026 enrolment open on Tuesday 22 April.  If you have a child starting school next year, make sure the office is aware and Kate can email you the enrolment link at the beginning of next term.  If you have friends, neighbours or extended family who are looking for a school for 2026, then invite them to one of our tours.
