STAFF UPDATES

From Heath McKenzie

Director of Administration

Staff Farewells

A handful of staff will be away from the College next year but will return in 2026. We wish Mr Cutuli, Mrs Kennedy, Mrs Oldfield and Mr Dorahy a happy year off and look forward to their return.

A number of staff are also close to having babies and will be away next year. We pray for the safe arrivals of babies for Mrs Purton, Ms Ballard, Ms McGovern and Ms Boisen.

Two gap staff will conclude their time with us: Hamish Minehan and Angus Ryan. They decided to have a gap year after graduating from St Gregory’s College Campbelltown, another Marist school. Both have been popular and respected staff members in the boarding community. Nothing was ever too much to ask, and they spent their time supporting students and staff with supervision, transport and Saturday outings.

They are about to embark on another adventure together in 2025, as they head to Canberra to play rugby union, while starting university. Angus will commence a Bachelor of Building Construction Management and Hamish a degree in physiotherapy. We thank Angus and Hamish for everything they have contributed to Saints and wish them the very best in their next journey.

Ellie Simpson

Miss Simpson joined us at the beginning of Term 3 to cover maternity leave. She has been a kind and patient member of the Learning Enrichment team. We wish Miss Simpson the best of luck as she continues her education degree.

Greg Azzopardi

Mr Azzopardi joined us this year as our Technologies Assistant, bringing with him fresh enthusiasm and commitment. His contributions have been greatly appreciated, and he has quickly become a valued member of our community. Mr Azzopardi will be leaving us to begin a permission to teach position at Cairns State High School. We wish him all the best in his studies and future career in education.

Karen Rowe

Ms Rowe has been the friendly face that greets us when we arrive at reception. When our students visited the Principal for their birthdays, her warm smile and welcoming nature were what greeted them. Ms Rowe’s kindness, positive attitude and sense of humour made the office a brighter place, and her presence will be sorely missed by all. We extend our heartfelt thanks for her service and wish her all the best as she steps into her well-deserved retirement.

Thank you to these staff for their dedicated service to St Augustine's College.
