FARM
Perth Royal Show Success
The College achieved great success at this year's Perth Royal Show, with students excelling in two competitions in the sheep section.
Year 12 students Jemima Bach, Sean Walker, Reid Becker, Tahlia Reichelt, Bethany Rutten and Kendall Heliams earned second place in the AWI Young Sheep Producers Challenge, where they were evaluated on their skills in shearing, wool handling and ewe selection.
Year 11 students Andi Osborne, Chelsea Bario, Greer Mahony and Lydia Cargill claimed first place in the AWI Future Breeders Challenge, which focused on feeding and preparing Merino sheep for competition. The Merino wethers were judged on their wool, meat quality, presentation and student handling.
Congratulations to all students and Steve Adams for these brilliant results.
Silage
As the weather warms up, the hay paddocks are growing and will soon be ready to cut. This week, students have commenced cutting, baling and wrapping silage.
Weekend Stock
Year 10 and 11 students are encouraged to take special note of the Weekend Stock Roster, as their attendance is required for their Farm learning program.
If a student cannot attend their weekend stock duty, it is their responsibility to arrange a swap with another student at least one week before their rostered weekend. Students who fail to complete their weekend stock duty will be rostered for additional weekend duties.
Repeated non-attendance will result in a loss of Good Standing until weekend stock duties have been fulfilled.
