Firstly, I wanted to thank the Ormond Primary School community for your support and understanding as we prepare for the transition to a smooth and successful 2025. The School Improvement Team and School Council have been working hard to prepare a strong handover and I am very grateful, in particular, to Aaron Jones and Helen Taylor for their leadership and commitment at this time.
There has been a lot of excitement around the school this week as the students prepared for Halloween and for the sliming on Friday. The students have hit their initial $5,000 fundraising target so will get to watch as I have 20 litres of slime poured over me this afternoon. We will begin at 3pm and parents are welcome to join us. We will also make sure that the event is recorded and shared with the community so, if you can't make it, don't worry - you can watch it back with your child(ren) over the weekend.
As we approach the end of the school year the roads, parking and school crossings surrounding your school are very busy.
Glen Eira Council has created a short, animated video that explains parking signs, how the school crossing operates and aims to promote safety surrounding the school. It encourages students to walk or ride to school too, even if only from a few blocks away, to help ease traffic congestion, improve healthy activity and to help the environment.
Please take some time to watch the video with your child(ren) and have a conversation about the importance of being vigilent when travelling to and from school.

Please remember that Monday, November 4th is a student free day and Tuesday (November 5th) is Melbourne Cup Public Holiday. We hope you enjoy a nice long weekend as a family. Remember that TheirCare will be operating on Monday - see the Out of Hours Care Information section for more information on how to book your child in.
The School Improvement Team, in consultation with students, staff and parents are constantly reviewing and updating our policies to ensure we are engaging in the most recent, evidence-based practice in line with the current guidelines. In October, we reviewed the following policies, all of which are available on our school website:
Community members are invited to familiarise yourself with the updated policies and send through any feedback or questions to the school office.
We have started work on our Child Safe policies and practices:
If you have any feedback on the current policies, please send it through to the office for our consideration. Further updates will be provided later in the term.
Regards,
Patrick Halpin and Aaron Jones
