Aerobics

The 2024 aerobics season has been filled with competitions and a lot of fun! 

Earlier in Term 1, The Year 7’s got the chance to try out for the high-performance aerobics team which led to many new gymnasts joining the club. These athletes competed all throughout the year as Level 3s and achieved some amazing results!  

Additionally, our senior athletes competed at the Victorian Championships in which Brooke Marsland placed 5th and Lucia Pegler placed 6th in the Level 7 section. In April, the Level 7+ athletes got the chance to try out for the 2024 Victorian state team in which we had Year 9 student Taya Argus compete for Victoria in the Level 8 section. Taya traveled to the Gold Coast in June to compete, and her routine placed 3rd in Australia. The Nationals experience allowed our athletes to make new friends and give them the experience of performing under high pressure situations against other elite athletes.  

In Term 2, our junior athletes (level 3-6) had their first competition for the season, opening the year to some amazing results. In Term 3, all MGC elite athletes competed at numerous competitions including Aeroschools Nationals Trials, Aerochallenges, and Melbourne Gym Sports Invitational. These competitions were a chance to try out for Nationals and practice competing.  

WE WENT TO NATIONALS!!! 

This was held at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre and was composed of two competitions: National Aeroschools and National Clubs Carnival. Nationals is a chance for our athletes to show off all their hard work and compete in front of our country. Being a part of the MGC team created opportunities for team bonding as we came together to cheer for our teammates during their routines. Our athletes came home with amazing results, coming Top 6 in every single section we competed in and sometimes clean sweeping the podium. We came home with 8 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, 4 fourth places, 1 fifth place and 5 sixth places. MGC was awarded 3rd place for the overall champion club within Australia! We cannot wait to see our amazing routines at MGC Presentation Night, Display Night and Orientation Day.
