Principal's Report
It has been a productive and exciting period for the MGC community. In the last week of Term Three, 20 of our Year 9 to 11 students, accompanied by four dedicated staff members, embarked on the French Study Tour. This incredible experience allowed our students to immerse themselves in French culture and language, offering a valuable opportunity to enhance their learning beyond the classroom. We look forward to seeing how this experience enriches their studies in the coming months and years.
Additionally, our Aerobics Teams continued their impressive form at the National Aerobics Championships on the Gold Coast. Our students displayed exceptional skill, talent, and teamwork, placing third overall. Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches involved for their hard work and success.
Over the break, our Year 12 students made the most of their time by undertaking practice exams in preparation for the final stretch of their VCE journey. Their focus during this period was admirable, and we are assured that their efforts will pay off as they approach their final exams.
Our Year 12 students celebrated the final two weeks of their high school experience. Not only did they finish their last classes with enthusiasm, but they also thrived during their celebration week, putting on a spectacular whole school assembly last Friday after sharing a breakfast together on the Yarra. The week concluded with a whole school MGC guard of honour, creating a memorable and heartfelt moment for all.
On Tuesday night, we held our Valedictory Evening, which provided us one final opportunity to come together with the students, staff, and families of the Year 12 students to celebrate and reflect on their journey at MGC. It was a special night, filled with pride, joy, and a sense of accomplishment for all involved. As our Year 12 students now turn their attention to the upcoming VCAA exams, we wish them all the best in the weeks ahead.
I am thrilled to announce that our 2026 School Captains are: Daisy Daniels, Sunday Bickford, and Swathy Nair. We are excited for their leadership and look forward to Daisy, Sunday and Swathy building upon the legacy left by those before them, continuing to uphold the values and spirit of MGC.
Another recent exciting development for the college is our student-driven initiative to redesign and update the furniture and seating arrangements in the Crowe’s Cafe. Our students have created a vibrant and welcoming space with bright booths, benches, and tables, providing seating options for many more students. This initiative not only reflects their creativity but also demonstrates their commitment to improving our school environment for everyone’s benefit.
Thank you to our students, staff, and families for your continued dedication and support. Here's to a successful and rewarding term ahead!
