Year Five

Dear Year Five families,

It’s been an exciting and busy time in our classroom, and I’m thrilled to share some of the wonderful activities we’ve been involved in!

Iron Armour Incursion: During Week Two, we were fortunate enough to have an inspiring incursion with Iron Armour, which focused on youth mentoring and the importance of resilience. The students learned valuable lessons about working hard to achieve their dreams and passions, and most importantly, the power of never giving up. It was a motivating experience, and the messages shared left a lasting impact on everyone.

Shark Tank Sales Pitches: Our classrooms have been buzzing with creativity as the students work on their Shark Tank projects. Each group has developed their own unique product, and they are refining their sales pitches in preparation for upcoming presentations. The students’ enthusiasm and teamwork have been fantastic to witness and it has been great to see teams including so many persuasive devices in their presentations.

Portfolio Reflections: In preparation for our upcoming three-way conferences, the students have been reflecting on their learning journeys by reviewing their portfolio pieces. They’ve shown great insight into their progress, strengths, and areas for growth, and we enjoyed sharing this with you during the student-led conferences on Tuesday 29th October.

Upcoming Incursion: DreamCity We’re also eagerly looking forward to our upcoming DreamCity incursion in Week Five, which promises to be very exciting! The experience includes activities in virtual reality, electrical engineering, and sports science activities, giving students hands-on opportunities to explore these fields. This incursion links perfectly with our upcoming unit of inquiry, and we can’t wait to see how the students engage with these concepts.

Primary school cup - West

We wish to congratulate our Grade 5 students who recently competed in the Primary School Cup West Volleyball Tournament. All our students gave their best efforts, showcasing outstanding teamwork and determination, winning many games along the way. We’re especially proud of our Grade 5 boys’ team, who came away with a hard-earned bronze medal. A huge thank you to our dedicated secondary coaches, Eseta, Tara, Aaleahya, Layla, and Ava, for their guidance and support throughout the entire day. Well done to everyone involved – we’re proud of you all

Important Reminders

  • In Term Four, all students must wear school hats at recess and lunch break times.
  • Our school day commences at 8:30am and students will be welcomed into the classroom each day from 8.20am, which will give them time to prepare for their day ahead. Any student who arrives after 8.40am must sign in at the office and obtain a late pass.
  • Student absences must be marked on XUNO as soon as possible by a parent or carer.
  • Please ensure your students get in the habit of charging their laptops overnight so that they are ready to be used for learning during the school day.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement. We’re so proud of how hard the students are working!

Kind regards,

The Year Five Team
