The Grade 5/6 production of The Giant Jam Sandwich is in it's final rehearsals. Remember to obtain your tickets for the show from the office or via compass.

The two evenig performances are the 22nd and 23rd of October in the Sunshine College space.

UNIT OF WORK - Term 4

Debate on Space

As leaders of our school, our Grade 5/6s are sailing into a universe of possibilities as they develop their confidence in public speaking and debating. During this unit, students will learn about our solar system and research the cost of space exploration. 

Students will work in teams to write and present their ideas in a class or group debate. Could we live on Mars? Is space exploration ethical? Should we mine asteroids and space debris for precious metals? Students will discuss what makes a debate impactful and what evidence is needed to support their discussion. 

SEL 

In Term 4, the Grade 5 and 6 students will continue to take part in a Cyber Safety Project lessons. They will develop skills to enable them to become successful online digital citizens.

The students will be learning about:

• recognising emotions experiened when being excluded or feeling left out
• building greater emotional vocabularly and making connections with emotions and online experiences
• exploring a range of challenging social experiences and considering strategies to manage emotional responses
• recognising the power of upstanders online and establishing simple strategies to support victims of online bullying
• creating a tool to support vulnerable groups to nagivate the online world safely.
