Principal's Post

Dear Families,

Welcome to the second week of our final term of the 2024 school year. The students all settled back well last week with lots of laughter, smiles and positive energy in classrooms and on the playground. We welcome Richard Tudge to our Year Three cohort in 3F. We also welcome back a few staff and students who have been away on leave or holidays.

This term is full of highlights and extra curricular activities including, but not restricted to: Twilight Sports, Parish Fete, First Reconciliation, Prep 2025 Orientation, level masses and of course our Year Six Graduation.

Please carefully note some whole school dates and class level dates both in the dates to note page of our newsletter and in the Level Newsletters published on that page of this newsletter. All of the information regarding this term's curriculum, main events and dates for your child's class can be found in these level newsletters. Click on the page to read it all.

If you have some time this week tune into the Cricket to watch our very own Mr Flintoff's daughter Tess star for the Melbourne Stars. Click here for the fixture.

We look forward to welcoming our new Prep families to the 2025 Prep Information night tomorrow as the start their St. James journey.

Bunnings BBQ Fund Raising Event

Dan Savoia has been preparing for the Bunnings BBQ next Saturday 26th October. He needs quite a few more volunteers. Please sign up here.

Funds raised all go towards our Parents and Friends fund raising for the year.

Parish Fete and Raffle

Fete raffle tickets will be sent home this week. The parish fete committee has very generously decided that for every $2.00 ticket sold, St James P & F will receive $1.50. This is an increase from $1.00 in previous years. This means that if every St James family sells their book of 20 tickets we will receive 240 x $15 which is $3600.

Please sell and return your tickets ASAP. We will have a few spare additional books for families who wish to sell more than one book.

There is also an early sellers prize. All families who have returned their sold tickets by Friday 17 October will go into this draw.

Stall volunteer sign up docs are in the Fete Newsletter below:

Remember the new 2025 Initiative: unless you have already committed to another stall. Year Level Stalls to volunteer for are listed below:

Prep - Popcorn/Fairyfloss

Year 1 - Snowcones

Year 2 - Lolly Stall

Year 3 - Donuts

Year 4 - Cakes

Year 5 - Coffee

Year 6 - JJ's Cafe

OHSC

MACS have mandated that all schools transition to a company which is overseen by their organisation. We have been chosen as a school which will move over to the new company MACSEYE commencing in the 2025 school year. They have assured us that there will be a seamless transition and places available for all families who require bookings. We are grateful for the relationship we have shared with Camp Australia over past years at St James.

Camp Australia recently ran a national competition for students who attend the program to design a message about the program to celebrate their 30th years of operating.

Machaela's design was chosen as the winning design and consequently, Machaela received a hoodie with the design printed on it. Well done on your beautiful artwork Machaela.

Division Athletics

Congratulations to our students who qualified for the Division Athletics following a top performance in the District event held last term. Our qualifying students participated today at Doncaster and did St James proud. Just some of our amazing athletes are pictured below.

School Uniform - SPARTAN

St James school uniform will now be available at the Spartan School World shop at U12/100 New St, Ringwood. Please note the change in address.

Afternoon/Twilight Sports Carnival

Thursday 31st October, 1.30pm - 4.30pm.

We will transport the students by bus to the Bill Sewart Athletics Track and parents are expected to collect their children at the conclusion of the event. Of course many parents will take up the invitation to come along and view the sports.

Look out for further information in the coming newsletters.

Marathon Club

Please note that Marathon Club is back this week, starting on Wednesday. Thanks to all the teachers who volunteer to make this a possibility. We really appreciate you. For anyone who has not yet tried Marathon Club, Term 4 is a great time to start as the weather warms up. A light run and a healthy breakfast is the perfect way to start the morning. Don't forget to bring your $20 a semester if you are participating. Hope to see you on Wednesday.

 St James School Disco

The St James School Disco was a great success on Thursday. Please see some photos below. Thanks so much to our wonderful P&F team and volunteers, especially Natasha Kaing, Meg Callanan, Alexis Mitchell and Antonia Kendrick for all your hard work ensuring that it was a great fun event for your kids.

Have a great week,

Dave
