Get to know our staff - With Alice and Emma

On Wednesday we sat with our school Principal Mr McDermott (Mr Mc), to get to know him a little bit better. We asked some hard hitting questions, I hope you enjoy our interview.

1. What are your hobbies? I love watching sport, playing cricket and spending time with my family.
2. Do you collect anything? I have a small collection of Sports cards, but I also collect Soccer scarfs from games that I have been to around the world. I probably have 15-20 sports scarfs.
3. What is your greatest accomplishment in life? Personally it would be my family, I have three beautiful kids and a very supportive wife. Professionally it would be becoming a Principal so young, and getting to lead this community. I think we have achieved a lot in my time here. 
4. What is on your bucket list? I would love to travel more, I want to go to Disneyland.
5. What is your best childhood memory? I don't have a great memory at the best of times but it would probably be, going on holidays to QLD and England with my mum, dad and brother. 
6. Who knows you best? My wife knows me pretty well, I am also a little bit of a mummy's boy so I would also say my mum.
7. Where is the coolest place you have travelled? I loved Dubai, I really want to go back there. But I have also been to Rome, London, Paris and Pompei was pretty cool. 
8. Who is your hero? My mum and dad
9. Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without? I am going to say my family is a necessity, so I am going to say my phone. I am pretty bad with my phone. 
10. What is the biggest risk you ever took? I think applying for the Deputy Principal job here at St Thomas More, I had just finished my Master's degree and was pretty young. Mrs Quinton took a little bit of a chance on me. 
11. What is your favourite food? I love Asian food. But I am not overly picky. I am not a big cake lover though.
