A chance to see all the amazing, inspired pieces our students have been creating across the year in one place. Be on the look out for more information later in the term.

Foundation students have been busy painting, printing, sculpting, drawing and cutting over the last few weeks in a variety of projects. They have been exploring different textures, colours and materials while developing their fine motor skills and creative confidence.

Students tried their hands at sculpting with clay to build a pinch pot. They also experimented with painting texture by printing with bubble wrap. Each project has encouraged problem-solving, imagination and a sense of pride in their achievements.

Year One and Two students have been busy exploring a range of art projects over the past few weeks. They have been developing their drawing skills using different materials and techniques, discovering new ways to express their ideas.

Inspired by Aaron Blabey’s book Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas, students created colourful drawings of piranhas using soft pastels, experimenting with texture and bold shapes. They have also been working on a special project for the glow-in-the-dark area of our upcoming Art Show, decorating insects with fluorescent pastels and designing striking patterns that will glow spectacularly under UV light. These artworks, along with their large jungle leaves, will help bring our jungle theme to life.

This week, students began a new oil pastel drawing project focused on Country and the places that are important to them, reflecting on the significance of Country to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Year Three and Four students have been busy creating vibrant rainforest artworks. They painted fluorescent backgrounds, carefully blending colours to create beautiful tonal effects. On top of these bold backdrops, they drew detailed rainforest animals and vegetation using black markers, making their designs stand out dramatically.

We are so excited to see what they will look like under UV lights at our upcoming Art Show, creating a magical rainforest atmosphere for visitors to enjoy.

Year Five and Six students have been drawing self portraits in the style of Tim Burton. Using his distinctive, whimsical and slightly gothic aesthetic as inspiration, students explored exaggeration, line work and proportion to give their portraits character and mood.

Through this project, students developed their observation skills, extended their understanding of stylistic techniques, and learned how artists can adapt and personalise portraiture.
