What a busy few weeks we have had in the Health & Physical Education Curriculum!

                                                                2025 House Captains

House Points:

Term Three House Points are back!!!!

Great to see so many students making positive choices and being awarded house points. Continue to be kind to yourself and others to earn house points.

Foundation:

Over the past four weeks, the Foundation students have been exposed to and practised more passing and catching movements. During our first lesson we focused on catching with reaction time. We played a game of Drop the Apple. Students were paired up and had to collect two tennis balls. One student had to simulate being a tree with their arms extended wide. In each hand they had a tennis ball. When they dropped a tennis ball, the other person had to try catch it before it bounced more than once.

The next lesson saw the students revisit the overarm and underarm throwing techniques. To scaffold their learning, we played a game of Coconut Throw which allowed them to choose which throw they wanted to apply.

The Foundation students also completed their health portfolio task for the term. The students had the opportunity to draw pictures to reflect a variety of different emotions.

Year One/Two

Over the past four weeks, the Year One/Two students have been refining and practising catching, passing, throwing and teamwork skills. Students were given the opportunity to apply these skills during team-based games such as Coconut Throw, Apple Drop, Catch-up and Challenge catch. It was great to witness the students' confidence grow over the lesson as well as their teamwork skill.

The Year One students completed their health portfolio task for the term. The students were given a variety of foods and an empty lunch box. The students had to cut out the foods they deemed to be healthy and pack them into the empty lunchbox.

The Year Two students completed their health portfolio task for the term. The task provided the cohort with the opportunity to develop an understanding of what makes each of them unique. The students had to list traits (both tangible and intangible) that help create their identity.

Year Three/Four

Over the past four weeks the Year Three/Four have continued to work through their volleyball program. They had the opportunity to apply their skills practise of setting, digging and serving into match play. The students played games using nets set at different heights to allow them to achieve success during gameplay.

The next unit we commenced involved the fundamental skill of striking. To practise this skill, we utilised the sport hockey to allow the students to implement the push-pass, shooting and dribbling.

The Year Three/Four students also completed their health portfolio task which looked at developing a deeper understanding of the concept resilience. The students were presented with different scenarios and had to identify resilience strategies to counter the problems.

Year Five/Six

Over the past four weeks the Year Five/Six have continued to work through their volleyball program. They had the opportunity to apply their skills practise of setting, digging and serving into match play. The students played games using nets set at different heights to allow them to achieve success during gameplay.

The next unit we commence involved the fundamental skill of striking. To practise this skill, we utilised the sport hockey to allow the students to implement the push-pass, shooting and dribbling.

The Year Five/Six students also completed their health portfolio task which looked at the bodies energy systems and how they both work and interconnect. The energy systems we explored as a class were the ATP-PC, Anaerobic and Aerobic. The purpose of this was to provide the students with the opportunity to see how they can train a system to benefit their chosen sport or activity.

District Athletics

On Thursday 4th September, forty-eight students from across our Year Three-Six cohort represented our school at the District Athletics Carnival. It was wonderful to witness the team spirit on display and level of effort our students put into each of their respective events. We are super proud of each and every one of you.

Congratulations to the students who have progressed to the Division carnival on Wednesday 17th September, we wish you all the best of luck. We look forward to seeing your results from the day.
