Year One

Communicating with the Year One Team

We are very happy to be partnering with you in 2025, and welcome your input:

When communicating with the Year One team, please reach out via the below email addresses. Your child's class teacher is your first point of contact when requiring a discussion. You will usually see us outside the classrooms at the end of the day. This is the preferred time to catch us for a quick chat as we are focused on greeting the students before school.

Please also note that we have scheduled meetings at 3.45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Fathers' Day Afternoon

One Friday the 4th of September we celebrated Fathers' Day with activities for dads and special visitiors. The Year One and Two team hosted paper plane construction and flying competition.

Thankyou for everyone who visited our area. Please enjoy photos of some families.

InitiaLit

Throughout Term Three, we have learnt lots of exciting concepts and are consolidating previously learnt concepts. In InitiaLit lessons, we have learnt new sounds such as 'ow', 'ou', 'aw', 'au', oy, oi, air, are, as well as suffixes, bossy 'e' and doubling letter rules. We continue to encourage students to bring their diaries and readers every Monday to help support further learning at home.

Book Week

We all had a lovely week in Book Week. The students shared and wrote about their favourite books and characters. There was a lot of excitement on Dress Up day as the students shared their costumes and characters with their friends.

Mathematics

During this term in Numeracy, the Year One classes have been working on various concepts including place value, money and numerical operations. We have seen such fantastic progress and students overcoming challenges within this time; every Year One student should be proud of their achievements.

Passion Day and Special Lunch

Tomorrow, Tuesday the 16th September, students will be able to come to school in free dress linked to their passions. This may be a sporting team, personal hobby or personal interest.

Our wonderful PTA has also organised a special lunch for this day.

Thank You

Thank you for a wonderful term. Tanya, Zoe, Meagan and Julie wish you a fantastic and safe holiday. We look forward to welcoming our students and families back to share a very busy Term Four together.

Term Three Tricky Words

Please don't forget to practise 'tricky words'. These words have irregular spelling patterns and are often difficult for children to sound out, therefore need to be learnt through regular practise and repetition.

Take Home Readers

Each week, your child is provided with one hard copy reader to read for the week. We ask that the book is read 3-4 times per week and is logged into your child’s reading diary.

Your child’s reading diary and book needs to be brought back to school every Monday morning to be checked and swapped over by your child’s classroom teacher. We kindly ask that all books are taken care of and returned in good condition every Monday.

Specialist Timetable Term 3
