🖤💛❤️ Celebrating Aboriginal Culture at Our School ❤️💛🖤

At St Annes, we are proud to learn about and celebrate Aboriginal culture—the culture of the First Australians who have lived on this land for over 60,000 years! Through our FIRE carrier program we engage the children  with stories, songs, art, and traditions. It helps us understand the history of our country and teaches us to respect the land, animals, and each other.

Here’s how we include Aboriginal culture in our learning:

🎨 Art and Symbols – We’ve been learning about dot painting, animal tracks, and how Aboriginal art tells stories about the Dreaming.

📖 Dreamtime Stories – We are reading special stories that explain how the world was made and why things are the way they are. These stories have been shared for thousands of years.

🌏 Acknowledgement of Country – At assembly and in class, we start by paying respect to the Traditional Custodians of the land. This helps us remember to be grateful and respectful.

Aboriginal culture is a big part of Australia’s identity.

By learning and celebrating it, we help make sure that the stories, knowledge, and voices of Aboriginal Peoples are heard and honoured.

Let’s keep listening, learning, and walking together in respect and friendship.
