Inquiry - Term 3

We have had a busy start to our term with incursions and excursions to start off our unit ‘Our Planet’. Last week the Foundation students had an incursion where they looked at different minibeasts that we have in Australia. Yesterday the Year 1/2s went to the Zoo as they begin learning about different animals, their features and habitats. In Week 1, the Year 5/6s had their natural disasters incursion and followed this up yesterday with a visit to the Melbourne Museum and IMAX to watch ‘Extreme Weather’. Tomorrow our Year 3/4s will visit Werribee Zoo as they continue to learn about different animals and their lifecycles. What a fantastic way to start our biological science unit!

Book Week, an exciting time at school is fast approaching! The theme this year is Book an Adventure. On Monday, August 18th it is all happening.

We will have our Dress Up Parade. Come dressed as your favourite character and we will parade in the yard at 9am. Parents you are more than welcome to join us or even dress up too. Clap and cheer as we show off our imagination and creativity.

Bake a Book Competition -  Monday, August 18th

Bake/decorate a cake that connects to a character, scene or theme from one of your favourite books. This year you may like to use our Book an Adventure theme to get creative.

Here are some details you need to consider when entering the competition

  • Design and decorate a cake YOURSELF (adults, can help with baking the cake or anything that requires adult supervision). Alternatively, you can purchase a base, the competition is about the decorations and link to books, not the taste of the cake.
  • Drop off your cake in the hall at the start of the day and collect at the end of the day. The cakes will not be eaten at school.
  • All creation is done at home
  • You can enter the competition with friends or alone
  • Have fun!

Please reach out if you are unsure of anything that happens for Book Week, it's meant to be a fun way to celebrate our love of reading and that's how we see it here....no stress about costumes whatever goes as long as the children are having fun and getting involved.
