Practising Gratitude - 3 Good Things

We're continuing our term focus on gratitude, encouraging students and staff to reflect on what they're thankful for. Last week, we collected messages on feathers to create giant wings, which students have enjoyed photographing themselves with and sending home.

We've explored the health benefits of gratitude, such as improved well-being, better sleep, reduced stress, and enhanced physical health. We've learned that gratitude requires practice and effort, but that by intentionally noticing positive aspects each day, we can boost our happiness.

I'm a big fan of regular gratitude practice, having seen such positive results in both my work and personal life.  An easy and powerful practice at home is what I call "3 Good Things", where each family member shares three positive experiences or things they're grateful for at dinner.  I started this when my kids were in primary school, and even though my kids are grown up now, we still do it when we are together. It might feel like a bit of an effort sometimes to find something to share, but the beauty of it is that when you are listening to everyone else’s good news and seeing them smile, it brings you joy. We find ourselves asking the others questions, which amplifies their positive experiences. Hearing from each other often makes us think of other good things in our day we hadn’t even thought of, making us feel more grateful about our lives. We always find 3 Good Things lifts our mood, and we often find it hard to stop at 3!  Why not try this at home with your kids? I'd love to hear how it goes for you.

Book Week - Choose an Adventure

Well, it's been quite an exciting Book Week as all students have chosen an adventure from a book. It's such a great celebration of one of life's greatest joys- reading. We'd like to thank Sallie for organising a fun day of Book Week activities on Friday, and Corinne for creating so many Book Week activities and displays for the students to enjoy. Finally, thank you to all of the family members who came along to the parade, and who helped kids with costumes. Aren't our students lucky?!

This showcase is a wonderful opportunity to support our students and celebrate their hard work and dedication to music. We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of entertainment.

2025 Parent survey- can you help?

You should have already received a personal link to our annual parent survey. We only have 25 replies so far, and we'd really love to hear from as many paernts and carers as possible. Can you help by completing the survey before Sunday 7 September? We always find the results really helpful, and what you tell us helps us set future directions for the school.
