Butterfly Foundation – Presentations for students 2nd September
On the 2nd of September the Butterfly Foundation will be holding virtual educational presentations delivered in age-appropriate sessions from Year 7 through to Year 11 cohorts.
The Butterfly Foundation is the national charity for anyone in Australia impacted by eating disorders and body image issues, as well as the families, friends and communities who support them. The foundation provides innovative, evidence-based support services, treatment and resources, delivering prevention and early intervention programs and advocating for the needs of our community.
The following presentations will be delivered:
Year 7: Let’s Talk Body: Addresses the role of social media on body image and builds social media literacy skills so that young people feel empowered if/when using social media platforms.
Year 8/9: Let’s Talk Relationships with Eating and Exercise Supports: young people to positively navigate external health messages, challenge diet culture and learn how to listen to their body to be their most ‘healthy’ self – in body and mind.
Year 10/11: Let’s Talk Appearance Ideals & Expectations: Explores appearance ideals, expectations and pressures and provides positive strategies to challenge and manage them.
If you have any questions regarding the above presentations, feel free to reach out to Brittany Russo (Brittany.russo@education.vic.gov.au) or alternatively, contact the school directly and ask to speak with the Wellbeing team.
