Book Week 2025

Book Week

What a wonderful week we had celebrating Book Week 2025! This year’s theme, “Book an Adventure,” inspired students and staff to immerse themselves in reading, storytelling, and creativity. The CBCA also marked a special milestone this year, celebrating eight decades of Book Week across Australia.

Throughout the week, students enjoyed a range of exciting activities:

  • Daily Library Activities – Students took part in activities such as creating stories with no words, roll-and-write stories, music visualisation, and exploring Pixar short films.

  • Students searched high and low for Wallys around the school in a fun Where’s Wally Scavenger Hunt.

  • Our much-loved Dress Up Day Parade saw Foundation to Year 6 students take to the stage in their wonderful costumes. We also welcomed the Greenvale Primary School Kindergarten children, who joined us for their very first Book Week dress up parade. A special congratulations goes to our Best Dressed students, who each received a copy of a CBCA Shortlisted Book of the Year as their prize.

  • Bookworm Guessing Competition – Students who returned their library books had two guesses to win a jar of “bookworms” (lollies), which created lots of excitement!

  • Classroom Activities – Each cohort planned fun literacy sessions focused on reading, writing, or speaking and listening, giving students the chance to connect with books in creative ways.

A huge thank you to our staff, students, and families for helping to make Book Week such a memorable celebration of the joy of reading.

We now turn our attention to our upcoming Writers’ Festival and Art Show on Thursday 11th September, where we look forward to welcoming our families to celebrate the creativity of our students through their published writing pieces and artwork!
