Merino Challenge

For the past six months, our Agriculture students have been busy raising and preparing a flock of merino wethers as part of the Merino Wether Challenge, a national program for Agriculture students in Years 9 to 11. The program gives students the opportunity to learn valuable hands-on skills in animal husbandry, feeding, and preparation, while developing teamwork and responsibility.

To thank those who support our program, the College recently hosted a Sponsor Thank You Event. Guests enjoyed a presentation and parade of the sheep, with students sharing their experiences and what they have learnt throughout the season. Hospitality students provided delicious refreshments for the occasion, while, staff and sponsors joined together to celebrate the achievements of our Agriculture students.

Last year, our school proudly took out the winning title at the Merino Wether Challenge, and with competition time fast approaching, our students and staff are heading down once again next week, hoping to bring the trophy home for a second year in a row!

We sincerely thank our sponsors and supporters for making this program possible and giving our students such a unique learning experience.

One Tree Per Child

Recently, students from Year 9 A Sense of Humus, Year 9 Your Environment and members of the Environment Committee joined the Greater Shepparton Council in the northern area of Shepparton to plant a range of indigenous tree and shrub species around Yakka Basin Reserve.

The students were happy and willing workers and Kylie from the Council commented on what a wonderful group they were.
