Principal's Message

The term has certainly flown by, and I know students and staff are looking forward to a well-earned break. Of course, for our Year 12 students the formal teaching has now finished, but the all-important revision period has only begun. I wish our students studying for Unit 4 exams the best as they begin revising for the practice exams to be held in the school holidays and Week 1 of Term 4.
Working Bee thank you
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the parents, carers, students and staff who helped at the recent Working Bee. The gardens feel rejuvenated, and several helpers were able to demolish the deck adjacent to the VCE Centre. This has saved the school thousands of dollars and clears the way for reconstruction of a new deck ready for the warmer weather in Term 4.
Renovations
Renovations of the toilet blocks continues after the successful reconstruction of the Boys toilets in the South Building. These toilets are now freshly painted and tiled, and have been re-modelled to assist with passive and active supervision. There have been no instances of anti-social behaviour reported since this redevelopment.
School Production
I want to congratulate all the staff and students involved in the Beauty and the Beast production that was performed this weekend at the Clocktower Theatre. It was one of the most visually stunning, tightly choreographed, and powerfully performed high school musicals I have ever seen. The singing from the principal actors was fantastic and acting from all those on stage suggested a maturity beyond their years. One highlight of many for me was the precision of the choreography and singing in the Gaston “tavern scene” - something that had many audience members raving in the foyer during intermission. This year’s production is a testament to the hard work of all involved - from the performers, backstage crew, and of course our dedicated staff. Bring on 2026!
Timetable changes for 2026
Following a review of the timetable structure adopted in 2025, it has been decided to return to a more conventional 30 period, single-week timetable for 2026 at Years 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12. Year 9 is likely to remain as a 25 period per week model following consultation with students and staff. The 6-period day at Story St will provide more flexibility to timetable specialist classes across all sessions of the school day. It will also provide for 4 contact points per week for VCE teaching including singles all day on Mondays and Fridays. Junior school classes are also likely to have a better spread of classes for each subject next year. Finally, Connect will be taught at Years 7, 8 and 9 for one 50-minute period per week. Connect will no longer be offered to Year 10 to 12 students.
School review
The school review continues in earnest and I encourage parents, carers and school staff to look out for review feedback projects. The first is likely to be a questionnaire designed to collect parent and student feedback regarding the way the school manages bullying and antisocial behaviour.
Thank you all for your efforts during Term 3. A nine-week term is very intensive for our senior students, and I know that many staff and students are feeling very tired. We have all earnt a well-deserved rest and I hope our school community can return relaxed for what will undoubtedly prove to be a fast-paced Term 4.
With regards
Nick Scott
