Congratulations to our beautiful Yr 6 students who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation last Sunday. St Brigid's Church was jam packed with Confirmation candidates, their families and teachers, praying for and blessing our Year 6 students as they continue on their faith journey sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Father Andrew did a brilliant job in the absence of the Bishop confirming the candidates and encouraging them all to 'spread the Good News just like they might spread vegemite, peanut butter, jam, nutella or even Biscoff on their toast. Not to keep the jar sealed but to open it up and spread the contents- spread Jesus' message of peace, love, hope and mercy."
Let us pray...
May these students who have recieved the gift of the Holy Spirit, continue to spread the good news on their faith journey. We pray that Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit may strengthen and bless them now that they have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. May the Holy Spirit guide them to use their gifts to love and serve the Lord and live a life faithful to the gospel.
Amen
On Friday 15th August we celebtrate the Feast of the Assumption, when Mary was 'assumed' into heaven, body and soul. The Assumption signals the end of Mary's earthly life and marks her journey to heaven to be reunited with Jesus. Mary's body was taken up to heaven by the power of her Son. It is this great love that Jesus showed for his mother that we celebrate on this day. It is such a special feast in the life of the church that it is one of only 2 days deemed a day of Holy Obligation, the other being Christmas Day.
On Friday we will be celebrating a Whole School Mass in the hall at 9am. All are welcome to join us on his special feast day.
