Working Bee
A big thank you to our wonderful families who braved the weather on Saturday 27th July to work on improving our grounds for our students. Sand and mulch topping up around the school was achieved.
There will be a Spring working bee later in the term for some new planting and weeding.
Grounds Update
Unfortunately there hasn't been much movement in the last fortnight. We are waiting for a new wider door for the performing arts ramp to be installed, then that ramp can be finished.
The Clyde Street building ramp came to a standstill due to rotting sleepers. It has just been approved to replace them with concrete sleepers so this work should commence again shortly. There is movement again on the Speight St ramp. They have now triple checked and measured the steel components and more works and preparation started yesterday. We are also waiting on the steel handrails to be delivered for the boys toilets.
Painting of the upstairs external windows and the St David building is about to commence and should be completed in about 2 weeks.
Preps 100 Days
Every year level has its challenges as well as special opportunities and moments. Teaching Foundation has its own level of joy and excitement and Wednesday was another one of the special moments with the students celebrating 100 days of school by either dressing up or wearing a collection of ‘100 things’!
Thank you to the Foundation teachers and all our parents for making it an exciting day.
On Fridays the leadership team is privileged with students coming to visit to share their amazing work. It's so lovely for our students to articulate and explain what their work is about and be so proud of it. Here is a poem that was written by a grade 2 student which I think is amazing so I thought I would share it.
Mobile Phone Policy
The policy & strategic planning committee have recently reviewed and updated our Mobile Phone Poli. This policy is mandated by the Education Department. I draw your attention to this dot point in the policy:
- Students who choose to bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored in the school office during school hours
Currently we have about 8 phones that are handed in daily to the office. I am certain there are many more phones in student's bags which is not allowed. I ask for all families support in following our school policy.
