Our clever artists are in full swing with their creativity and experiments with clay. Foundation students printed their clay slabs with stamps, rolled and pressed flowers and used tools to begin the first process in the making of their clay windchimes. It was fun seeing how each object made patterns in the clay.
Grade 1s are making Clay Rainbows soon to be transformed after a firing in the kiln and an application of resist pastel and ink. They will be spectacular, but check out the careful forming and patterns made by these clever kiddos!
Grade 2's are learning all about rolling coils and forming them into spirals. They chose a 'form' to shape their cup or bowl over keeping in mind that their chosen vessel will dictate the shape of their finished object. making coils can be tricky, especially if you have hot hand that dry out the clay as you are working with it. Take a look at their successes.
Have a look at Bodhi's impromptu make - a monster complete with teeth and protruding eye stalks! What dexterity you have Bodhi!
Grade 5 and 6's have begun their patient exploration of clay and it's properties with the build of their trophies. We started with pinch pots, a favourite every year, then we will build coils to extend the shapes of our cups.
Sensational Slugs are coming to life! We love painting in Grade 3 and 4 and what a perfect surface to have fun with dry brushing and blending.
Our Encounter visitors have had an amazing time in the Art Room over the last 2 weeks, playing with clay and even making their own tiny baby slugs. Here are some photos capturing our friends at work.
I look forward to sharing more exciting Art news next time.
