Year 5/6 Mainstream

Celebrating Learning

Parliament Excursion - end of Term 2

Students from all around Victoria gathered to talk about the topic; Should contact sports be banned? The students sat down in the legislative assembly room which is where we would spend most of our time. Our day was full of listening to students' ideas, learning, and telling and teaching others what we think and know. By the end of the day a final vote was taken on the topic, should contact sports be banned, and the final vote was 68 students thinking it shouldn't be banned to 0 thinking it should be.

Unit Focus

We finished the term with a successful Science Fair where we were joined by students and families to celebrate some incredible learning. Students spent the fair busily educating their audiences about specific areas of research which included black holes, planets, satellites, the moon landing, sounds in space, space food and many more. It was a terrific opportunity to showcase all the hard work the 5/6 students had completed and well received by the wider school community.
