As the Year 7s have been learning about Ancient Egypt in Humanities, we went to visit the NGV Pharaoh Exhibition. I enjoyed myself and thought it was an amazing experience and I'm sure everyone else did too.
The expert talk, from Amy, was extremely engaging and I loved the explanations of the artefacts. I found it fascinating how the Egyptians put tags of their enemies on the bottom of their shoes to show that they were better than them.
With thoughts of "This is beautiful" and "How is this still intact?" running through my mind I walked through the gallery, truly amazed. I loved how each room represented a theme, such as the royal family, jewellery, eternal life etc.
My favourite thing in the entire exhibition was the feeling of excitement while walking through each room knowing I was surrounded by Ancient Egyptian artefacts, that have existed for thousands of years, before Jesus' time.

The NGV excursion to see the Pharaoh Exhibition was a really great experience and depiction of Egyptian history. We were talked to by a museum guide about the exhibit and shown certain important artefacts. It was very interesting how the NGV made each room darker and lighter as we walked through them. It gave me a sense of time going by and made it more fun to go to each room. This added so much to the experience. I loved the room with the many statues of gods and goddesses. It was all very beautiful and had so much presence. We are so lucky that the British Museum was kind enough to lend these artefacts to the NGV. Overall, it was an incredible experience and I think everybody had a great time.

The Year 7s have begun their studies of Geography. The students have been learning the key skills to study Geography, like BOLTSS, learning how to read and create maps. Maisonya Nguyen in 7R created this map, using the skills she learnt in class.

Our Year 7 students have embarked on an inspiring project: creating artworks that depict the Stations of Mary. Guided by their Religious Education teachers, the students have been exploring the life and significance of Mary, mother of Jesus, through various artistic mediums. Each student crafted an artwork representing a Station of Mary, thoughtfully using colors, symbols, and designs to convey their understanding and personal connection to their chosen Station. Accompanying their artwork, they wrote insightful explanations and heartfelt prayers to Mary. The project aimed to deepen their understanding of Mary's importance and her portrayal in the Catholic Church. Some of these artworks will be displayed on bulletin boards in the Kirrip Hub, offering the entire school community an opportunity to appreciate and reflect on the students' impressive efforts and the profound stories behind their creations.
This term, our Year 7 Religion classes explored what a Golden Rule is, for example, "Treat others as you would like to be treated". The students then set out to choose their own by locating scripture passages that reflected values important to them. Each student chose a verse that resonated with their personal beliefs, aiming to live by it as a guiding principle.
Sharing their chosen scriptures with the class, students explained the significance and impact of these teachings on their lives, fostering a deeper connection to their faith.
These passages are now proudly displayed in their mentor groups, serving as daily reminders of their commitment to these values.
